Our local Auto parts store was having a sale on these filters. $1.99 each normally they are $2.99. From the looks of it, it's identical to Napa Proselect. From what I can tell this filter is made by Wix (in Mexico), same inlet holes, thread end bypass etc. and carry the Wix part number (except the first digit). Overall, it looks like a good filter for the price and 5,000 OCI or less. I'll use this for on my in-law's car since they do short trips and short OCI.

yup

I didn't even noticed the dent, I went to check it and yes, there's a dent. For the trouble of taking to time to go exchange it, i thought I would cut it open, since it's a cheap filter, but there's nothing cheap about the construction. Great glue job, mostly even pleats, metal end caps, the media is shorter than the ST 73717 I cut open in the past. I may have to stock up on more while the sale is still going on.

It's call Baxters auto parts ( which is in OR,WA,CA) which cary the "Auto Value" parts line.

I think Parts Master is a brand name for Auto Value.

From the naked eye and feel, I couldn't tell any difference from the ST, Purolator Classic, AC Delco.

How many of you guys would not use that filter because of the dent?
I ask because a couple of my AA clearance filters had similar dents and I'm hesitant about using them. What's the consensus?

I would have used it.

Affinia = Wix owner. Wix thread end bypass construction. Surely worth the sale price. Decent find.

Yep, that's due to the space thread end bypass construction (as opposed to dome end) takes up.

Looks like not everything made in Mexico is junk. It looks good! I wouldn't have run it w/ the dent either. THX for sacrificing it in the name of BITOG inspection!

Pick up a few more good ones at that price.
