I track a 250whp turbo Miata with a 6-speed and run AMSoil MTG (must use GL-4). I recently put temp-strips on my trans case, away from the exhaust, and saw these temps indicated. Is this too hot and should I be concerned?

Those temps would be big for an engine. I've never heard of a manual tranny getting that hot...

That's going to be 100% custom and not cheap. Are we sure that temps this high are bad? I've been running Rotella synthetic at 250* for hours on end and after 6-hours or so on the oil it still looks good according to the UOA.

For 250 rwhp through a Miata tranmission on a track, it's not unreasonable.

I agree on it not hurting the oil, but effects of reduced viscosity should be considered. Probably not a problem though.

I wish there were an inbetween oil from the MTG to the 110 stuff...but not only would it be terrible cold but it would not be GL-4.
