Found: SH-rated Mobil 1 15W50

Yesterday at a small local hardware store I found a case of SH-rated Mobil 1 15W50. Both my bikes can use SH-rated oil according to the owners manuals. This stuff is well over 10 years old, but if I can get the manager to sell it to me for $2.50 a quart or less, I think I'll use it.

Am I nuts?

As far as nuts, eh, hard to say; if you can get it cheap enough, and the vehicle specs for it, go ahead and use it I'd say

Not nuts at all,,shake it up good and dump it in,it'll work fine.

The manufacturers usually quote 5 years shelf life.

I read one saying you can do a VOA to see if it still is ok.

As daman says, shake it well before using - or sampling.

I have 4 quarts red cap SL/GF3 left, I bought 2 cases about 6-7 years ago with BOGO calendar coupon from Pep Boys. I'll use 2 quarts with 6 quarts M1 0W20 for E430 the next oil change in about 3-4 weeks.
