Truck is an '01 Nissan Frontier 4x4 with the 3.3L Supercharged V6. I use it for 80% highway, 20% stop and go city traffic. Currently has 50k with unknown previous maintenance. Looking for suggestions on oil and OCI.

Nissan recommends 5w-30 year round with 3750mi OCI for severe service, but also allows 10w-30 and 10w40 to be used in temps above 0F.

I'm leaning toward Rotella T Synth 5w-40 for it's cleaning properties, and the 40 weight for summer high RPM highway use. I'm considering a 5k OCI.

Other oils I've considered are 0w-30 GC, M1 5w-30 T&SUV, Pennzoil Platinum and M1 10w-30.

Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated.

My dad has a 01 SC crewcab with 117k.
I ran M1 5w30 the 1st 50k and its been on 10w30 M1 and now on 10w30EP since then.

Never done a uoa on it but it runs great and dosent use any oil.

If it hasent happend yet you will need a knock sensor and the passenger exhaust manifold is probably going to crack.
To very common problems on these 3.3s.
My dad had to have both exhaust manifolds and a knock sensor replaced around 70k under the extended warranty.

Why did you post the exact same question in another thread?

Yes, the Napz engine. I just loved changing the plugs on my dads 83 720.

I've owned two Nissan trucks over the years before buying a Ford F350 diesel. My first Nissan truck purchased new was a 1984 720 with the 8 plug (2 per cylinder) 4 cylinder 103 hp 5 speed. Kept it for 11 years great truck routine maintance required by Nissan using 10w30 dino oil and Nissan filters every 3 months /3750. You could look inside the valve cover area and see the timing chain looked brand new no crud or build up. Second Nissan truck purchased new was a 1995 Hardbody V6 4x4 A/T. Again great truck, kept until purchasing my 2002 Ford F350. I used 10w30 dino oil( mostly QS dealer bulk oil) with Nissan oil filters every 3 months/3750. Neither Nissan truck I owned never used any oil between changes. I think synthetics are great, but the dino oils worked for me. I think the important factor is no matter what oil and filter you choose, use something decent and follow the OCI's.
