Ford 9.75" 75w90

2003 Ford F150 with the 9.75" rear differential. The tag says use FEHP oil only, XY 75w90-QFEHP. What kind of gear oil is this? Would some Lucas or Valvoline 75w90 synthetic do the trick?

All 5 editions of the owner's manual for the 2003 F-150 list the following for the rear axle:
Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 High Performance Synthetic Rear Axle Lube
Ford Part Number: XY-75W140–QL
Ford Specification: WSL-M2C192-A

Are you sure it isn't a 2004 model? All 5 editions of the manual for 2004 do specify the FEHP oil.

that part number updates to xy-75q140-ql which is 75w140 Full Synthetic.

The build date of the truck was 01/03. Your right though,after further investigation,75w140 supercedes the 75w90 oil that has been discontinued.
