Has anyone tried changing colors of the brake and dérailleur cable sheaths by painting them with the specialty Plastic paint from Rust-o-leum?

I have acquired a medium blue Raleigh 10 speed from the late 80's that is in like new condition, but it has these awful bright yellow cable sheaths. For obvious reasons, I'd much rather that they be black.

I agree with just getting a new set of cables and housing. I'm not sure what the ones at Walmart are like, but even a decent set of Jagwire cables and housing is under $20.

The new cables and housing will also drastically improve brake and shifter feel over the ones you have now, which are probably gummed up, rusted, and stretched (or any combination thereof).

Well, the Wal-mart cables aren't high-grade by any means, but a little Lithium grease and they work well / seem to last a long time. Hard to beat the price for a complete set of 4 cables with sheaths and ends.
