Just finished changing my oil.

I hate when that happens !!

I picked up new drain plus for my 2000 Taurus and 07 Fusion today just in case that rubber O ring takes a [censored] when I do a change . Always good to have spares .

I left a drain washer off about 2 years ago and noticed that it did not leak. Haven't used one since.

Although my Mazda does have a nice little seepage from the oil fill cap.

I wasn't going to do anything about it but I sat under the car while it was on and watched oil seep out the seam of the bolt of the pan ever so slowly. I just couldn't leave it like that so out it came.

Happened to me once on the GF's Protegé. But it leaked so little that I didn't bother and put the washer back on at the next OCI.

So get a cork, or a new drain plug. Either cork it until you can put the washer on the plug and then get it back in, or have the new plug ready with the washer in place so you can quickly switch.

With fast hands, you might only lose 4oz of oil. No big deal.

How's that possible? The washer just falls off.
