Does anyone know if there is a larger filter with equivalent specs for the PH7317? (sorry, Fram part number is the only one I have).

My Frontier has the 3.3L V6, but Nissan gave it a whopping 3.7 qt sump, with filter. The filter is the same as they use on the Mitsubishi 4G63 and many other 4 cyl engines, it's one of the smallest I've seen.

Something a bit larger would certainly be beneficial in this application.

Check these out, same thread and gasket, may vary in can size (from another thread):
Let me see if I can do better. For 20 x 1.5mm threads, 14 psi by-pass valve, anti-drain back valve, 2.3" O.D. gasket 2.5" to 3.5" long.

about 2.5 inches long.

That's a great list but 2.5 list actually is smaller than the 7317/14610 app(s).

The 3.5 list is the same size as the 7317/144610.

I was trying to give the OP an "oversize" application of the 7317.

I see you already linked the Honda Civic thread earlier in this thread, but wanted to add here that the Purolator 14459 has a slightly larger volume (and probably media surface area) than the 14610, and the 14459 also has a higher efficiency than the 14610. If the 0.45" larger can diameter fits on the engine's mounting base without any physical issues then the 14459 would be the better filter to use IMO. I'm going to try one on my V6 Altima (VQ35 engine).

Here's the three filters numbers that are basically interchangable. Pretty close size wise in any case.
The 3593A holds slightly more oil (inside volume).
7317:
3.47" ht
2.69" dia

3593A:
3.36" ht
3.02" dia

2.84" dia

Kind of an old thread - but I've used the Baldwin B1431 in place of the 7317 filters. Same specs as their B1400 and B1402 except the B1431 is 4" long.
