Been awhile. Got tired of the negativity of certain posters so I stopped posting...but I'll give it another go. Sorry about the bad formatting. Universals last. Several oil changes with PP not tested after the ? oil. I forgot which oil I used at the "?"....All PP OCI's use Amsoil filters changed every other OCI. The engine was "tight" at about 4,000 RPMs until one hard acceleration day it "freed up". Right around the 37 copper time. Runs silky smooth 700 to redline ever since. Averages 30-33 MPG's at 75-82 MPH., 34-35 at 60 MPH, 25-27 MPG city. Burns maybe 1/2+ quart every 3,000-ish.

All 5W/30 oils, Blackstone
FF, Havoline, Havoline, ? ,... PP, PP, PP
2180, 3095, 2940, 3478, 4703, 3204, 4363 @ 36,075. 40K OCI not tested. Next OCI will be at about 43,000 miles.

That's right! Here you are spending your own money and offering up your UOA's for all to view and there are those giving negative feedback? What a shame!

Boy, 7 UOA's! Is this the best you can offer? LOL ;)Just kidding!

Good UOA trending. I would love stats like that with my car.

Love the moly in Havoline... it's a great conventional oil. Keep doing what you're doing, and that Si will last a long time.

Cicero - If you've seen my UOAs, you've seen how far PP 5w30 and other synthetics can run on this engine. You should be taking her out to 7500 miles minimum IMHO.

I'm going to experiment with M1 0w40 next and show how that runs in these cars. I expect great results, as these engines are phenomenal on a variety of oils :)

Does the recent DS formulation also have all the moly? I didn't think the DS had it...and it was just the "old" Havoline. Of course, we don't know how old the Havoline was in these UOAs, but I'm just asking...

Thanks. It was negativity in general around 2007...nothing personal. Just got tired of the flame wars and lost track of things....

5k? Pfft. Do you guys realize that the OLM on this car will go 6-7k under aggressive driving on DINO?

:)

These times they are a chang'in. Had an older man back in the 60's tell me he never changed his oil....he said he just changed the filter and added another quart of oil at the 2500 mile mark and his truck had 130,000 miles on it and he said it didn't use any oil and ran perfect.........of course it was a Chevy which prob explains it.......anyway just some food for thought on the oil changing deal.

Oil Life Monitor - one of GM's marvels. It's also misnomered for other forms of maintenance reminders.

The 37 Cu and 27 Na along with the high viscousity of that one change would be the only questionable situation here. No idea what happened here. Any chance you installed an plastic intake manifold gasket around this time? It's possible to drop some coolant through an intake valve during this modification and could be responsible for the uptick in Na and maybe Cu but I'm not sure Honda coolant contains Na (pretty sure it's got a bunch of P). At any rate, that problem seems to have passed.

You're changing your oil much more often than necessary. Use the Maintenance Minder and you'll be more than fine since you're running a good oil.
