Valvoline Max Life Full Synthetic a Group IV

Maybe none of HIS synthetics are designed for extended oil change intervals, but a number are, namely the Mobil 1 0W-40. I don't think any of Valvoline's products meet some of the tougher European specs (like the BMW LL spec), so his statement would apply to his product line only. [/quote]

>>>Valvoline has an entire line of oils that are Euro spec- 'MST'

It has some pretty impressive specs. The 10W-30 has a NOACK of only 7%. That's crazy. The reformulated Synpower also has significantly lower NOACK numbers now as well.

I suppose it's possible that they both have significant portions of PAO in them.

I have a jug of 10W-30 Maxlife Full Synthetic sitting here that I can't wait to put into my car once the temps get back up to above 70.

Even better: his own product apparently meets the BMW Long Life specifications, so for him to say that synthetics aren't engineered for extended drains is still puzzling to me. Those TBNs still aren't that impressive; most are 7. You get that with PYB, don't you?

Either way, I didn't think the MST was really available in the US, which is why I figured he made that comment. Still doesn't address many GMs, Hondas, and BMWs that have called for extended OCIs (past 7,500 miles) for over a decade now.

I kept getting an error stating the PDF could not be found and after about 15 tries decided to give up. If someone has the link to an active one I would appreciate it.

When I would click on MaxLife 5W-30 or 10W-30, it would say it wasn't found for me either.

Well, I suspected group III so that is no surprise. Thank you for the links and info. I am sure it is still a good oil and will probably serve me better in the Phoenix area than the syn blend MaxLife.
