Not sure how it can be a "higher viscosity formula" when it is a 10w-30. Higher than what?
A 10W-30 has a specific viscosity range. There are thinner 10W-30's and there are thicker 10W-30's that still fall within the 10W-30 range.
For example, an SAE 30 has a viscosity range of (at 100C/210F) a minimum cSt of 9.3 and a maximum cSt of 12.5.
