On this particular forum, everyone is always looking for fuel injector cleaners or fuel system treatments that have 'amine' detergents in them, as they are the most effective.

I don't know if PEA's are the only type of 'amine' detergent that are effective, or if they are effective in small quantities, but Wynn's Fuel System Treatments seems to have some - MSDS:

http://www.wynns.ca/data/msds/english/wynns/36801.pdf

They list POLY OLEFIN AMINE as being 7-13%

Is that what you're calling a PEA?

The reason I ask is because I know that Red Line and most of the other major players usually have 25-50% PEA content.

Some amines apparently do more harm than good. That's what I was told when I mentioned that the Super Tech brand Carburetor and Fuel Injector Cleaner also contains Polyolefin Amine.

checked techron MSDS australia today, had naphta petroleum - any good for fuel system cleaner?

Only PEA at concentrations of 30-50% are effective at removing carbon and NOT leaving a detergent residue behind..

POA is a cheaper detergent that is less effective and leaves behind its own residue effectively defeating its whole purpose...not only that the concentration is so low that I doubt it will actually clean anything at all.

There are a lot of low cost chemicals that clean the injectors, valve tops, and the intake. Better quality fuel might even be sufficient. Polyether Amine cleans all that and combustion chamber carbon that the cheaper additives won't touch.

PEA based cleaners tend to say "Complete Fuel System Cleaner" instead of "Fuel Injector Cleaner."

Chevron has a PEA vs PBA comparison. I suspect POA is another second best.

Not only does Techron Concentrate Plus have enough PEA to help remove deposits from your fuel system in one tankful, but it also can clean and protect your fuel system sensors from sulfuric buildup – the root cause of many faulty fuel gauge readings.

For our canadian members, you can search Canadian Tire MSDS by entering the product number here http://msds.canadiantire.ca/search.asp?lang=en
For instance, here is the MSDS for redline SI1
http://msds.canadiantire.ca/OpenRepositoryFile.asp?s=94203&v=3
Alot of the other name brand cleaners have high% (60-100%) of stoddard solvent, like the $15 bottle of Pennzoil fuel system cleaner found here
http://msds.canadiantire.ca/OpenRepositoryFile.asp?s=166927&v=1

This is the only description of stoddard solvent that i could find:
A chemical that is used to remove other chemicals and coatings from tools and other objects. Its common names are often "safety solvent" and "mineral spirits."
