just changed the oil on my 89 gsxr 750. It's been a long time since i've changed the oil.I had a lot of metallic slivers and a few pieces that looked like clutch material.I believe the oil i used was 10w40 as spec'd. What might this stuff be?The engine was rebuilt around 55,000 miles ago.I just changed to 15w40 now.Engine does not get hot and i don't rev the snot out of it.

steel clutch plate material is always a possibility. same for tiny flecks from the tranny gearset and camchain.

a little fuzz on a mag drain plug is quite normal.

Have you ever opened up your oil filter to see what's being gathered there. I occasionally remove the paper material from the filter and open the pleats to inspect for glitter.

well post a pic then so we can see!!!

boraticus, dont know if that was posed to me or not, but i run a stainless steel filter that does better than paper.

Better than paper? Must be awfully fine mesh. How do you clean it? Just wash it in a solvent?

Filter up to 35 micron is not better than any paper filter I use.
My paper filters are in the high 90%'s for one time pass for 20 micron.

Doesnt look like scotts filter will even caputure a 20 miron particle.

Ive only used metal screen catridge filters on some ATV's and dirt bikes.

If I can screw on a filter I use a PureONE or WIX car filter.
