Is this safe? I've been running this stuff for the past while (8,000kms)and the car seems to like it...can I push my luck and try extending my OCI to a 10-15,000 miles CI with a filter change in b/t as well as a top up?

TIA

P.S. car is a 97 Escort with 181,000kms on it, and doesn't leak or burn any synthetic oil

Why bother?

TBN is an 8 for Synpower 5w-30. Not sure it would go 15,000 miles. It might be able to go 15,000 kilometers if that's what you meant, but probably shouldn't push it much further.

Maybe try Esso XD-3 0W-30, a $4/L motor oil that has a TBN of 12 and is built for extended drains.

Should be abundantly available at your local Imperial Oil dealer in Calgary.
