I already got GM-LL-A 025 listed for Saab.

I just noticed in another forum people were talking about BMW LL oil specs. Are we sure those don't apply to US models? Pablo listed a bunch of part numbers for BMW oils, but I don't know if any of those are LL oils.

Here is the updated list. I added GM, which I previously missed.

I've been trying to remember what US cars got the turbo Ecotec engine. Solstice GXP, Sky Redline, HHR, and Cobalt? I thought those might use the GM-LL-A025 spec but it looks like they use GM4718M. That's GM's hi-performance oil used by the Corvette and others...

Did we get more VW/Audi oils in the states?

my vehicles owners manual states: "API Certified SAE Grade meeting DaimlerChrysler Material Standard MS-6395"

I don't know what the standard is for MS-6395?

Yes, sure, but were they ever specified by VW or Audi for US models? I am sure VW 505.00 was and may still be called for in non-PD diesel engines, but VW 505.00 is covered by VW 505.01. VW 505.00 is now also covered by VW 502.00 (That change was introduced when VW 502.00 was updated fairly recently). I did list the two VW oil specs that to my best knowledge cover all older and current VW and Audi engines available in the US.

I do realize that a number of oils is available that meets other VW oils specs, including the latest VW 504/507 spec, which, also to my best knowledge, is not suitable due to US fuel quality.

I believe there may be a similar issue with VW 504/507 and the BMW LL oils.

You can find plenty info on all the VW oil specs in various posts. Most of the VW oil specs that people keep bringing up are either not applicable in US models, or they are old specs that have been superseded. Since engines remain in service for many years, the old specs may still appear on oil bottles.

People tend to complicate the VW oil spec issue by not looking in their car's manual. Most likely one of three oil specs is required, and at least one of those oil specs will cover at least one other spec.

Thanks for the link!

BMW got creamed in the 90's with warranty expenses related to high sulfur fuel damage in Nikasil treated engine blocks - big warranty expense for 3.0 and 4.0 liter V8's. Never again, apparently!

gtx150 already elaborated and I filled in the spec.

Lamborghini recommendations as follows:
As per driving condition:
Gallardo/Murcielago : 5W-40 for normal driving / 20W-50 for sport driving Agip

Diablo 6.0 : 5W-40 or 10W-40 Agip

Diablo 5.7 : 10W-50 Agip

Also, seeing as that I am a RX8 owner. It should be mentioned that Mazda recommends that you run nothing but API approved conventional oil in their rotary engines. Many RX8 owners have known to void their warranty by running synthetic.
