So I was forced to upgrade to "Version 2009" tonight, as the previous version wouldn't sign in anymore. I tried Version 2009 before, and downgraded because my contact list disappeared. Now that I'm forced to use this genius excuse of an upgrade from Micro$oft, how do I go about retrieving my contact list back?

When I log into Hotmail, all my contacts are still there and listed as "In Messenger", but there isn't a single soul on my MSN Messenger contact list anymore.

Yes, sorry Windows Live Messenger. They can never seem to agree on a single name.
 
Yikes. You know, if you do not need any of the fancy-pants features of MSN or whatever they're calling it these days, perhaps a *non* Micro$oft MSN client would fit the bill? Pidgin, Miranda, Trillian, even the web-based Meebo all do simple chat really nicely.

^^Yep,try that. Everytime I`ve upgraded it always saves my contact list. If all else fails,copy and paste your contacts via your contact list in your email. Then you can re-add them.
