sorry for the duplicate. Original was posted before I realized that I was in the wrong forum. here is the question.

What is the most current Cetane ratings for B100 vs. ULSD.
I am likely to switch to Bio, and want to know if I still
need Cetane booster. (My Kubota did not like LSD, and hates
ULSD)

B100 is normally a fair amount higher cetane than #2.

There is loads of info from reputable sources if you Google it

I just got back from the largest local commercial distributor for diesel, bio-diesel, lubricants. They looked it up for their ULSD and B99. ULSD is running 42 Cetane, and B99 at 48.

Any extra info appreciated.

So running a B2 or B5 blend would, in fact, raise the cetane level?
VW has a warrany issue above that, which is why I used those examples.

yes, though this thought experiment was motivated by the lubricity thread a couple days ago in this sub-forum. B2 is far, far superior to all the expensive name-brands, and non-name-brands.

For BD, it varies quite a bit, depending on the oil used and the free fatty acid content of the oil.

I have read typical values range from the mid-40s to the mid-60s.

Most ULSD is between 40 and 45. I think some stations say they get upper 40s...Arco?

On average, BD will beat ULSD for cetane...my swag is by 5 to 10 points.

The B-20 at my Mobil station says the Cetane is 45.

There is a sticker on the dispenser saying B-20 must contain from 5% to 20% biodiesel. That has me a little concerned though, how do I know how much biodiesel I am getting?
