Hi everyone,
Just wondering if someone can help me with this. I have a John Deere lawn tractor, LT160. The specs call for their OEM oil filter, part number AM125424.

Is their a cross reference available, or does anyone know if I can use a commonly available filter such as a PureONE ?

Than you in advance,
Dave

Enter the JD# and it will give you the Wix #. It's Wix #51056 for your application.

That is the filter I use for my JD lawn tractor as well.

I called Fleet Filter and told him which John Deere I have and ordered 4 and I ordered 8 filters for my Mazda. It was cheaper than going down an buying one at a time. Wix are a very good filter.

That's fine for most people, but I would hope a BITOG guy would step it up to a 51348 (3.4 inches vs 2.7) or 51516 (4.8 inches).

I use the FL400S. It's a 51516 crossover. It's a larger filter for my Saturn and my Cub Cadet.

A PL10241 (std length) or PL25230 (longer) will work, or Mobil 1 M1-102, if you're after a premium filter.

If you like the standard length, non-premium filter, a Purolator L10241 will work; a Motorcraft FL400S or Puro L20195 or L25230 for those who like longer filters (like me!!). Plus, Advance Auto usually has 'em for around $3- 4.

+1 to that! I run FL400s on my Kohler Command powered Cub 2544. The base on the Commands will fit *some* PH8A equivs even. Gotta be careful though as the filter gasket is REAL close to the edge of the mount base with some and over with other PH8A clones.

My brother recently installed an FL400S on his Craftsman's Briggs/Stratton, and, while we were looking at it he said "man, does that make it easy to get it off there when I want to change it". It sticks out so much further that he can get to it easily - the short'ish OEM filter is really crammed back in there and hard to get hold of. Another plus for the longer/cheaper filters.

15 microns, low restriction, more capacity, more surface area to cool oil if you have the room for the longer than stock B & S filters.

I use the Amsoils on my JD rider with a B & S 22hp

WIX makes NAPA Gold and CarQuest Blue filters. (identical except for the paint job)
For a NAPA filter, use the last 4 digits of the Wix#
For a CarQuest filter, replace the first 2 digits of the Wix# with 85.
Example. Wix 51348 becomes CarQuest 85348 or NAPA Gold 1348.

It's hard to beat the benefits of the 51516/FL400S/20195 fitlers.

They are very prominent in application, so the selection, price and availability are great. Add to that their ability to be moved into yet even more applications by "crossing over" where their height (on length, depending upon your point of view) permit. And they have a great filtration efficiency for their size.

Most every Toyota application that calls for a 51348 can get a 51516 on there; not all, but most. And like the OP has discovered, it fits most any small engine pressure fed equipment too!

The L10241 cross references to an Advance Auto Parts AA3614. Purolator makes the AA filters and they appear to be the same construction as the L series plus allgrip material on the outside of the filter. The AA outlets in may area carry them behind the counter (you have to ask for them) and are currently selling them at $1.45. Stock up while you can get um at that price.
