Free kits, quick turn-around, they'll happily send you an "adjusted" report (like on my last one, I forgot to state which oil I had used, doh!), and they're reasonably priced, especially if you forgo the TBN test.

Why would we forgo the TBN test? is it only needed when you suspect the oil needs to be replaced?

Do they track the data over time and give you reports or are you just looking for an abnormal reading?

If you're running "easy" miles (mostly highway) on OEM intervals to stay within warranty, ANY OE-spec'd oil will do the job just fine, and based on my somewhat abusive short-hop city driving, there would be plenty of life to go further, if the OEM were ever to allow it.

Also, Polaris Labs is a good choice.

The only thing I do not like about Blackstone's reports is that they do not show Oxidation or Nitration levels. Since these are a direct measurement of an oil serviceability I would rather see those in my reports.

When you say Schaeffer, do you mean Staveley? when we took samples for our Schaeffers oil we sent the results to Staveley.

Blackstone ...... I enjoy the humor ....
