The 03-06 recommended oil is 5w20, while the 01-02 is recommended oil is 5w30.

Identical scenario with my 02 TL -> 5-20 and the predecessors are 5-30.
The common agreement on acurazine is that Honda/Acura is pushing to keep up with CAFE.
There were no major spec changes on the engine for 2000-01-02-03 models.

03+ had a 20 HP increase in power so there might have been some changes to the engine. I'd Stick to 5W-30 even if it were back specd, it's just a very good, balanced weight.

No problems either way. 3.5 is a solid motor, with regular oil changes and maintenance it should last a long time. 5W-20 or 5W-30, it's your pick. One thing to watch out for on those engines is valve adjustment, the exhaust valves tend to get too tight over time. PM me if you have any specific questions.
