The best one I'm aware of is Memtest 86+ and it's free and included on the Ubuntu LiveCD as I said.
Maybe PandaBear knows of a better test that will give more accurate results? I'd like to know about it so I can use it instead. I have some memory coming in the mail that I'll need to test when it arrives.
