The great folks at Piriform who gave us CCleaner have Recuva available free. Looks like a really useful piece of sw imo.

Nice! I'll delete some photos off of my camera and see if this thing can recover them.
I've had three people in as many months make panicked phone calls to me asking if I could get some deleted photos off of their cameras. After giving them exhaustive lectures on data backup, I tried a lot of different ones (file recovery tools), all of which were able to get me varying measures of success, but none totally.
