Just wondering what would be a good gear oil choice for my 93 C1500. The truck has 157k miles and I do moderate towing with it.
I was leaning towards Valvoline Synpower 75w140 or BG 75w140.
GM calls for 80w90 dyno, but it seems like with the newer synthetics I'd be better off with the 75w-140. Any opinions?

I would use a 75W-90 in it. Better cold weather performance for your NY winters and more than enough protection for your C1500. If you like Valvoline, they make Synpower 75W-90. Other good choices would be Amsoil, Schaeffer's, Red Line, Conklin, and Mobil 1.

I ended up getting the BG 75w140. I got it at work and got a pretty good deal. I have not put it in the truck yet, but I opened a bottle and the stuff really clings to your fingers. I think it will work well.
