Depends how good the people are and how honest and what they have to do. I have a small computer shop near me that I trust and go to if I get stuck. I would not take it to the big chain computer stores.

The best thing to do is to always keep your Data stored on a seperate drive, that way if you run into this it's easy to reinstall windows and your programs without loosing all your important stuff.

I'm techie enough to be able to move my data off when windows crashes or gets infected by a nasty virus, but an easy fix for the not so techie is to keep data on a separate drive, possibly external USB so that one need not worry.

Separate external USB drives are better because if you take your computer somewhere to be serviced you don't have to worry about snoopers going through your files because they are safely stored at home!
