I would not use an oil that thick in any Ford 4.6 V8.

If I were you, I would put a PCV catch can in your PCV line. My car (96 CVPI) was using a lot of oil, and it was going through the PCV system.

Don't own one, but I've read here a ton of times that the Ford 4.6 V-8 don't like oil much thicker than 5W-20. 15W-40 is way, way to thick for that engine...think you'll find it will 'liven up' and run much better on a 20 or 30-weight oil....

Personally, I like Delo over Delvac, but they're both quality oils. 5W20 or 5W30 are probably more ideal, but your 4.6L will be fine on 15W40. You may see some reduced fuel economy. There are plenty of fleet service Ford 4.6L/5.4L/6.8L engines running on 15W40.
