There has been a lot of discussion on radio show broadcasts on Xm's Open Road Trucking Channel about UOA's showing increasing Iron or Tin levels whether using a CI-4+ or CJ-4 oil. A lot of the discussion is targeting the possibility that ULSD is looking to be more of the primary cause. People doing UOA's have noticed higher levels of these metals and it has shown up since ULSD came in. They are using the same oil brand they had used before, and many using the same API classification.

Seems like a stretch, but there seems to be no other explanation. I myself have seen faster increasing levels of Iron in UOA's since ULSD showed up. While they are not increasing at alarming levels and still within tolerances. And all of this is on a broad range of engine makes and mileages, with most only a quarter into their useful life.

For those that research these things.. has there been much discussion of this by the testing labs?
