I just picked up a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7 L hemi. It has a Multi Displacement System - oil operated lifters to shut down 4 cylinders under light load. The book says you must use 5W20 oil to properly operate the lifter system. Anyone have any experience with this setup with GC? I'll either run Mobil 1 5W20 or the GC depending on the replys.

Thanks in advance.

For an engine that recommends 5W-20, I would not use GC. GC is almost a 40 weight.

I'd go with M1 0W-20 if you can find it, or PP 5W-20.

Definitely the Mobil-1 0W-20 advanced fuel economy.

Use 5W-20 or 0W-20. I believe its been well-documented that the MDS system doesn't work well at all with anything above a thin-30 weight (Havoline DS 5W-30)...GC is waaayyy above that...
