By the way, I should mention that in most cases; barring the implementation on the part of the DVD author of some kind of uber copy protection, you can just pop in the DVD into a drive and copy the content of the VIDEO_TS folder onto your hard drive. The .vob files are just .mpeg streams. They can be played as-is in Windows Media Player, VLC, etc.

What this will *not* do for you, of course, is re-encode or shrink the file(s), meaning you may end up with 4.7GB worth of movie that woulda looked just as snazzy on your laptop as a 700MB re-encode.
