My lug studs have a finite life

I see you have formed a little different tactic than I have but succeeded. Wow those drums are rusty. The last shop I worked in had a torch and yet I still use the slot followed by an air chisel. If the drums/rotors are seized and also need replaceing. Its just faster for me.

Studs don't get old, just misused. Yes, you may as well replace all the over stressed ones.


That sounds like a good guess for anti-seized studs.

At least your stud tension is consistent. The people not lubing their studs with varying amount of rust on them are under tensioning the studs at factory torque.



If the studs are that rusty (more than just oxidIization), I replace them.
