Honda push mower I purchesed a couple years ago has a ohv engine oil calls for 10w30 engine oil in the manual. Can I just use dino valvoline 10w 30 or is there a special hd oil for these engines

You can use any high quality dino or syn oil.

I use Shell 10W-30 in my HRX-217 because I bought some at $.59/quart.

My mower takes 14.5 oz at drain and fill, so 1 quart is good for 2 changes.

personally, Id run a syn 30wt or 10w-30. M1 is good, Amsoil ACD is my choice.

If going conventional, Id look for an HDEO 10w-30.

These engines hold very little oil so even a very expensive synthetic oil will not break the bank.

M-1 10W-30 is good and easy to get. Change it 2x per season and you will be in great shape.

break in is 5-10 hours and you can switch to syn at 10 hours no problem, fact is that air filtration is the much bigger factor and with a good conventional oil that mower will last 15 years no problem.

About any 10-30 will work in one of those well-designed engines.

Rotella T 10-30 is a good one. Probably overkill for a mower, but, that's why we're here, right?
