any other place besides crucial.com? are they the best to go to? plus they are charging me $7 sales tax on checkout.

I've had great luck with newegg.com and tigerdirect.com in the past. Newegg's service is top notch.

Crucial is giving free shipping if you spend over $50, I'm buying three sticks of ram, so I'm looking to keep costs down. I'll check the sites mentioned to see which gives the best deal.

Wherever on sale. Newegg has better return policy than buy.com, so that's where I would go myself.

Make sure you check the review on newegg first to see how reliable and compatible is it to your setup, and how good is the rebate if there is one.

They all buy from various DRAM fab (Samsung, Hynix, Elpida, Qimonda, Micron, PowerChip, Nanya, Winbond, Inotera, and maybe I forgot a couple small fry). It is hard to say wnat you are getting base on 1 or 2 particular brand.

Recent (not from 2 years ago) user review is your friend.

I recently bought Crucial Memory at NewEgg cheaper then it was at Crucial. NewEgg especially when they have free shipping and a rebate.

Speed. Do you know the FSB speed of your CPU by chance?

Go into the BIOS setup, look for the system information or memory information screen, it will tell you the speed of your RAM, report that back here....
