Engine failure Ford Ranger 3L

Did they ever take care of the cam synchronizer problem, I have a 2005 Taurus right now...

I have no idea.

It seems like the general consensus is to replace it at around 100K. People who have replaced it say to use Motorcraft and A-1 Cardone replacements only...the Dorman ones fail pretty quickly.

OHV Taurus?
The 3.0 OHV has one
The 3.0 DOHC does not.

there are 3 3.0 ranger engines on stands in the weekend garage right now.i checked them out and the cause of death was the gear on the camsyncro on all 3.
one looks as if a bomb went off in the block.lots of missing chunks.
other 2 fixable with crank kits

Sounds like a recall is in order,oh by the way talked with service department yesterday at local dealership.They never heard of this problem.Have also been on their list for cruise control recall for close to a year now...still waiting for that call!

Your dealership is lying. If they don't know about the cam syncronizer problem, then their service department must not work on any 3.0 Vulcan Fords.

My Ranger had the cruise control recall done over a year ago, as did my old Ranger and Explorer. Yours should be done by now. It takes all of five minutes and the parts are readily available. Not sure why your dealer is beating around the bush...
