Sometimes when Vista is starting up and comes to the desktop, a dialogue box comes up saying "WMI Serv has stopped responding" and is now being closed. It doesn't seem to affect anything as to how the computer behaves, apps run, etc. This WMI Serv error occurs approximately 1 out of 20 times I am using the computer.

As a side note, for the past couple of weeks, FireFox will prompt Vista to tell me it quit working and is now closing. Weird.

WMI stuff isn't needed. It's nice to have, but not necessary. I have an issue with one Windows2008 server instance that runs in a Virtual Machine. One of the WMI threads takes up an inordinate amount of CPU at times. I just turn the service off, then it runs A-OK.

Windows 2008 is Vista w/SP1..they are the same code base.
