I would like to have a dedicated fax number for small business purposes, not a physical (PSTN) number from a local telephone company, but an Internet one so that I can take it with me regardless where I live in the country.

Now, I want to be able to send faxes from an all-in-one printer/scanner/fax machine by putting paper documents onto the feeder and selecting a destination fax number on the device's keypad, however I don't want this transmission to go over a physical PSTN line, but over Internet, as I mentioned above.

So, what software/hardware do I need for this? Do I basically need something like Vonage and then plug the all-in-one fax machine into the phone line input (RJ-11) on the Vonage box? Or is there some other/better way to get this accomplished?

Thanks!

Vonage will work perfectly for this app.

And yes, you plug the RJ11 into the Vonage box and away you go.

So, I can just purchase Vonage's cheapest $14.99/month calling plan (includes 500 outgoing minutes) and use it for faxing instead of voice?
