So it's easy to see from above, why I have decided to change the filter every oil change. I have seen by-pass systems that had worse particle counts than the EAO has shown.

I don't know Tempest, but I am thinking that the ISO code for the SSO is very low, what with the new Amsoil filtration system. Perhaps Pablo will break his silence and give us an insight.
That was an interesting read, thank you Pablo. I noticed the engine tested was pretty low in mileage.
My engine has 256,000 miles on it and well broken in.
I like to experiment with things so I will see how a M1 filter fares vs the Amsoil offering. I am curious to see what if any difference there is in my engine. I think it's safe to say all engines are different in how they respond to oil and filters.
This will take a while, but it is something to look forward to.
The next UOA will be with an EAO filter, subsequent tests will be with the M1 filter using the SSO of course. I would like to compare the ISO oil cleanliness in my engine between the EAO and the M1 filter.
i can do (near) 45 mpg with the 1.6L engine but only if i drive at 90 km/h... in high-way
meanwhile driving 100% urban i can do 25~27 mpg

the GTX mineral oil is not a Fuel Eficcient oil as recomended to D15 and D16 engines, the GTX is too thick
what you are using is equivalent FE
because its ACEA A5/B5-04
and A5/B5 are very thin... viscosity 9~10 Cst at 100ºC => tipical "FE"
i wonder if it would have results in the 1.6 L engine... i think its too thin... and recomended is FE but perhaps A3/B3 C3.. meaning... the viscosity at 100ºC seem to low for our weather... -10ºC to 35ºC
also the TBN 13.2 lol as high as if used in a diesel aplication, engine cleasing is not compromised at all

Lets go with $6 for a quart of oil (low) and $10 for a oil filter (low) and forget any of his $35-45 UOAs.
6x4 = $24 plus $10 filter per OCI times 34 = $1156 just in oil and filters for 138,000 miles.
Wow. Wish I had some of that action.
If he was using conventional oils and a filter it would have been $2 qt x 4 = $8 for oil and $3 for a filter = $11 times 34 OCi = $374 for the same 138k.
$782 difference.
