Or petrol as it's known in the UK !! How much are you guy's paying over there ? Whatever it is , you'll be shocked to know we are at between $10.82 & $12.00 per gallon from 95 ron gas to Diesel over here !! I know that the US gallon is slightly smaller , but it don't make that much difference !!

We now consider every journey before we fire the vehicle up !!

I did a journey to a race meet just over 300 miles away on Sunday , the fuel cost using my Evo was $237.00 !!!

This is somehow news?

Oil has been easing back a bit and gas off it's highs. Under $4.20 gallon in Duvall, Washington STATE. Which has high US prices as does California and some other eco dense areas, relative to our central states.

OK , not a surprise then !! What level of tax is charged on motor vehicle fuel over there ?

Man that`s high! Does your Evo take premium? My Z does and last week when I got some here in Texas it was about $4.06 a gallon.

it's mapped so that it can run on 95 , but the power drops off noticably. Generally I run it on SUL (super unleaded) which is 97 , or if I'm feeling flush super fuels such as Shell V Power , BP ultimate , Tesco 99 etc.

I would think that a civil war would start if it was !!
Fuel price protests are becoming more frequent over here and in France the Truckers are becoming hostile !!

Man you got that right! I`d be pumping up my bike tires!

We're currently paying $6.20 per UK gallon, price has dropped slightly in the past week.

Some car dealers are no longer accepting SUV's or pick-up trucks as trade-ins.

I'm glad I bought a Toyota Echo 3 years ago, it actually gets better mileage than my 650cc motorcycle!

We were touring England and Scotland last summer and I rented a Vauxhall Astra for a couple of weeks while we were in the Yorkshire Dales. At that time gas was about twice the cost of what we were paying at home, looks like things have changed little in that respect. That Vauxhall wasn't the best on gas , either. The same car is now being marketed here as the Saturn Astra.

Should you (or anyone)decide to visit our shores again I can give you a tip , rent a diesel !! The newest diesels give good performance and an easy 60 mpg !! The BMW 1 series TD with 200 BHP will get that mileage !!

Dealers here are reporting the same trends , demand for small cars is outstripping supply and large 4x4's etc are growing into the dealers forecourts !!

Personally , I use a Citroen HDI as a daily driver , the Evo is purely recreational and is getting less and less use !! Having said that , I would never sell it. Well , not unless I could mangage to scrape up enough to buy a new Nissan GTR !!

A diesel was what I was hoping for, as I made the arrangements online before leaving Canada, but ended up with a "petrol" unit.

Small diesels here are limited mainly to Volkswagen products and until recently the SmartForTwo ( now gasoline only!!!) It appears that Ford will be introducing one of its diesel powered European cars here soon and Honda will likely begin marketing their new diesel engined car in this market as well.

Either way, I envy the massive choices you have for small cars in England... we have but a small fraction to select from. The biggest seller here is the Honda Civic but I found Civic numbers were of no special percentage of the miriad of small vehicles in the UK.

Cannot compare the two countries..In Europe more taxes to pay for stuff. Take that out we are paying more over here in the US..

I'm in Canada, not the U.S.

I have heard that gasoline in Venezuela averaged 12 cents per gallon a couple of years ago. My guess is that access to cheap gasoline is one of the tricks used by Hugo Chavez to promote his socialist agenda, and to advance his goal of becoming a dictator like Fidel Castro.

Do you think smaller more fuel economic cars would sell in the USA & Canada ? Even the diesels ?

I'd absolutely drive an electric car if I could get one that was fast, looked good, and had a decent range and long service life.

I've always been fascinated by electric cars.
