I must confess to the cheap and not too often tribe with grease ad automotive apps. Reading this forum has opened my eyes. My Jeep manual specs the above grease. I also live in Western Canada and need lo temp performance.

I am considering a synthetic, I think a PAO base?, and was wondering what these specs mean and if I would be better off with a higher grade of grease?

Price is not a problem, a tube every year or two, but availability is.

NGLI grade 2 is how "thick" the grease is, 1 is thinner, 3 is thicker.
EP is Extreme Pressure.
GC-LB means bearing and chassis-load bearing

#2 EP GC-LB is the most common grade of automotive grease.

NGLI #2 = typical wheel bearing grease "thickness"

EP = Extreme Pressure fortified

GC-LB = Wheel bearing rated

I would go with a good PAO based grease like Amsoil or M1.

This is important for you. Look at Pour Point of base oil in the grease, but not for operation temperature. The Pour Point should be at least –40 °C for you.
