I believe these MOTUL oils are ester-based if you read their product specification data sheet, http://www.turbofrogperformance.com/Tech.htm

8100 Ester E-Tech 0w-40 ACEA A3/B3/B4
8100 E-Tech Lite 0w-30 ACEA A5/B5
Specific BMW LL-01
of course, 300V series racing oil!

Both 0w-40 and 0w-30 have the same pour point of -76F. Either GC 0w-30 or MOTUL 8100 0w-40 would be my choice of winter or year round oil for my turbo vehicles.

It has a very average pour point for a full PAO oil

Hooray ! I finally got a reply :

Hi Chris

Thanks for your inquiry

Hi.
I got the same reply from them.No Ester.
Just PAO.
Better go with Castrol Formula R 0w-40 100% PAO A$65 for 5L jug.

Well well !

I sent a follow up reply to Stuart, asking him about the "average" pour point for a PAO synthetic, and the fact that the Canadian Motul website lists this oil as Ester. This is his reply :

Hi Chris

Sorry for the delay I have checked with our Technical manager in France and he inform me that it is a Group 4 / 5 – PAO Ester Mix sorry for the incorrect info
