So I changed out the Delvac 1 to try out this interesting Fuchs GT1 0W20. On initial observations the motor is about the same smoothness and noise. I've noticed that the idle MAF voltage has dropped a consistant 20mV compared to before, indicating there is less effort to keep the engine at 850rpm. Should be interesting to see how this zinc free 0W20 will hold up in the built 400hp SR20DET (2.0L 4cyl). Ive noticed that the engine feels a little peppier but I'm not sure if its the placebo effect? Anyways I'll continue to post my findings as there is clearly not enough people trying this oil!

One thing to note is that this oil is the darkest oil I've come across, out of the bottle!

Yeah, but what did it SMELL like?

Its rapid biodegradability (over 80% according to CEC L-33-A-93) in particular is due to the base oils used, which are produced to a large extent from renewable raw materials. In addition there is the environmentally compatible additivation: TITAN GT1 for example is the first zinc-free engine oil on the market! There are significant improvements in the primary emissions due to this and the low-evaporation base oil, in turn leading to significantly reduced strain on the modern exhaust treatment systems

20wt in a turbo engine that was previously using 40wt?
You might want to run a really short oil change interval.

I run short intervals anyway as the richness of the tune tends to load the oil up with a bit of soot from my observations. OCIs are about 5,000kms.

G-MAN, it had a very unique smell.. sorta like a funny plasticy smell. Not fruity like good old chemisty class was.

One thing that has be thinking is how it biodegrades so readily. What would stop it from degrading in my motor?! Btw heres some specs I've dug up from a few other BITOG posts (Mainly Terry);

HTHS: 2.93
SG@15c = 0.867
Flash: 238C D92
PP: -45C D97
Vis @-30C: 3200 mPa s
Vis @100C: 8.9 mm2/s
VI: 160
NOAK: 6.9%

Some specs are pretty impressive for a 20wt. Will be taking the car for a thrash this weekend so I'll report my findings soon.

I have a 500hp highly modded 6G72, and with its twin turbos, I wouldn't touch a 20w oil. We all know turbos make tremendous heat. Under extended WOT, I can see a 20w having a viscosity of 1 cst, lol.

The 1.9 litre test engine, a commercial 85 KW engine with pump injection technology (Unit Injector System), remained below the limits of wear for around 1,000 hours. This therefore meets the requirements for intervals between oil changes of up to 50,000km along with optimum viscosity.

Every time I see a post about this oil I remember the title of that UOA post "Camry Fuchs Titan" and laugh at the reply that stated it sounded like the title to a porno movie.

This might be the most advanced oil on the market, no? Makes our oils look dated.

I should hav enoticed he is indeed "down unda". Can we get some in the USA? I find myself checking out Fuchs MC oils.

Update on the oil;

No complaints whatsoever. The car has been through approximately 5000km with 3 track days in between. Oil is a little dark and engine has used approximately 500ml of oil in this time. The engine is running smoother than ever with no coarseness on the valvetrain etc. However I have noticed that I'm in dire need for an oil cooler, as oil temps are >140C on the track. Can't be good for any 20wt, no matter how good it is. I'll be stepping up to a 30wt in the meantime, until I can get a proper oil cooler sorted and the oil temps back under good contro;, then back to the Fuchs GT1 again I'd say!
