To plug our filters, I suppose. I've got about 12 gallons of stuff in my home heating oil tank. It's a 275 gallon tank ..and only tanks 265+/- from empty ...all the way out to the fill pipe.
When we had to use #5 oil in our normally NG fired boilers we had to service the nozzles every shift. Varishes and lacquers would form on them. I imagine, that even thought #2 is much cleaner than #5 low-sulfur ...it still has enough "stuff" in it to foul the nozzle.
Naturally, I have mega filtration to handle this sorta stuff. I just need to rig up the recirc line to the tank so that the system is self priming and moves 100's of gallons an hour instead of a 1000 gallons a year.
