So why shouldn't I use Castrol Syntec 5w40??

This oil is rarely discussed...I bought an Audi A3 and it is approved so is it an "OK"

oil or are there others that are approved that are better? I plan on doing a change this wekend as i have just hit 1500 miles.

It has the VW 502 approval, but not the 503.01
-503.01 is the approval for turbo charged Audi's with >180PS.

Over the counter: Only 0w30 Castrol Syntec & 0w40 Mobil 1 Euro meet the 503.01 (AFAIK).
-Both of these oils have the lower 502 approval as well.

maybe u wanna try Amsoil euro 5W-40, it's a great oil for VW engines

Motul has the 503.00, but I guess thats not the newest
