Scheaffers Premium Diesel treat 2000 added every tank. Customer uses an FS 2500 bypass system from filtration solutions and changes every 10-12k with a half to one gallon of new oil.

Looks like a 100K oil, plenty of life left in it, staying in the 40weight range. Wow, great oil....

I wonder if the iron number is in the normal range in relation to the 71K on the latest oil batch being run?

Look how high the metals are going from what they started out. I guess Iam not a extended oil change kinda guy, but I think oil is cheaper than engines and cant see the point in this. Use a synthetic and change less or a cheaper name brand and change more. For the price of the oil analysis's you could have just changed the oil. Oil analysis's cant measure the soot left behind either, this is especially important in newer diesels that keep the soot in instead of letting it go out the stacks like older trucks.

I dont think you could change the oil in this rig for the price of a UOA.

I'm all for extended intervals myself- but to a certain point. I guess that point is different for everyone.

$30,000 engine might keep me stuck in my ways as far as extended oil changes. remember when you are dealing with big trucks most buy in bulk, even small companies, you dont buy in Qts, you buy in drums, you dont buy in each, you buy in cases. Its all about tax write offs.

bulk, QTs.,Gal, uoa's,filters, labor........Do the math.Extended drain intervals win. Period. PLUS you get to analyze the UOA and save time.
Spend $7 otc or $15-$25 with a premium oil. Better oil, more time, more money, better engine wear.
