it sure sounds like it. I know in many metro areas the EPA requires seasonally different mixtures of fuel (in the summer) for cleaner air - and its always more expensive

i will be trying the fully synthetic-group III no doubt valvoline 20-50 in my new thumper a G650GS, not the bmw $14.50 @ qt stuff. it meets their spec + since i park it when the cold sets in the 20-50 should work well @ $8.75 a qt

That wear is pretty bad. Hate to sound repetitive, but Castrol Magnatec seems to work wonders in these engines. For now, wouldn't run any oil past 5k until wear settles down.
