The Rislone concentrated treatment is a 7.8 cSt viscosity at 100C (close to a 20 weight oil). I'm only using the 5w30 because of the cold winter temps here in Illinois and short trips not warming up the oil much. http://barsproducts.com/system/pdfs/

A friend bought a 2005 Audi A6 recently and I've been helping him find acceptable motor oils to use for DIY. The owner's manual specifies 0W-30 and lists 5W-30 and 5W-40 as acceptable substitutes plus the oil needs to meet API SJ and ACEA A2 or A3 r

Sooooo OP: What did you end up tossing in the engine?? Did the aluminum heads immediately melt and the connecting rods weld themselves to the crank and wrist pins the second you put a x/w20 grade in there? Inquiring minds would like to know!! lol

I'd only be using a diesel engine oil in the 5w-40 flavor personally...

There are two Motorcraft filter failures listed in the Excel spreadsheet on BITOG tracking Purolator oil filter tearing issues. See row 35 (FL-820S) and row 39 (FL-910S) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...p=sharing#gid=0 Pic of the FL

If you google causes of oil consumption you will find reference to this problem. GM also has a TSB mentioning this problem in regard to high oil consumption with their 3.6. I have also observed this first hand. Most cars have a "fresh air tube&q

I've found Mobil and PP (and PYB) both made my 5.3L tick quite noticeably. Mobil Super HM with Rislone quieted things down for me (160K miles). I think these engines need a good oil cooler before using a more expensive oil (mine did not come with one

Yep, I've seen quite a few left like this unknowingly. I've also seen a few MTD units, where owners did not set the axle/wheel hub pins in the proper hole, allowing so much side/side play of the drive axle that the hex shaped axle bushings pop out
