frequent upshifting/downshifting equates to more wear (on the friction disks), which equates to shorter trannie service life. At least that's how I'd translate it. Methinks 4 or 5spd A/T is ideal. Q.

if it runs at idle for 15 minutes without overheating, and if you drive it around for another 15 minutes without overheating, then you won the lottery. otherwise let us know how that works.

Personal challenge to relate... I have even, in a pinch, had broken bleeder on a caliper on a beater car and was able to save it with this procedure... Fill caliper and get fluid filled in offending corner to the caliper. Bleed out as best possible

Mann/Mahle/Knecht make OEM filters for BMW. They are good filters and are reasonably priced.

I was planning on 5k-7.5k OCI with OE or another good filter. On my previous BMWs I've used Bosch or Mann Filters. I'm assuming they are good filters for the E38 as well.

Without all the CAFE fuel saving focus, 5W-30 would remain the de facto standard here in the USA. We buy into the hysteria when we crown 0W-?? oils the best oil for our vehicles. But the Euro spec 5W-30 we will start seeing at retail in the coming
