The boat folks say short of repainting a boat is the only solution to keep the gel coat from fading. I wet sanded / compounded my entire boat and it looks awsome. People rant and rave about the durability of 885. So will this help to stop the chalking / fading out? If I only have to compound it each year, I can live with that. I will never wetsand a boat of that size ever again. (23')

We used to use nu-finish on our boat. The wax on anything below the waterline will go pretty quickly, anything above is like a car. I have not used collinite so don't know how long it will last. Do you "park" the boat in the water when not in use? If not then regular reapplication should be easy and effective but you may need to reapply with each trip.
