Canada, eh?
Looking to install one of these units in an upstairs room at the end of a hallway.
My issue is in regards to the window size.
The unit I'm considering states that you need at most 40 1/2 inch vertical frame.
My window frame is about 57 inches and the frame is metal.

Considering the unit is being supported by the bottom with the bracket and support bracket, is it still possible?
Obviously the two other sides would be supported by the window frame and the sliding window.

thanks in advance.

You may want to put a prop piece to help keep the sliding window wedged against the AC unit.

Vertical window AC are made for those types of windows

You lost me because I'm slow. "...at most 40 1/2" vertical frame"?????
Is this limitation representative of the "accordion pleats" of the filler being fully extended?

Gimme the dimensions of the window you're going to install this window unit into.
If it's a double hung window raise the window and measure the opening.

Width X Height. Depth doesn't matter because it's sticking out the window.
Then gimme the dimensions of the air conditioner. Width X Height. Depth doesn't matter for the same reason.

The rigging (filling any gaps) K-454 mentioned is, in my opinion, THE task. Any window AC can be a total life saver.
