the Schaffer's rep in my area said 229 is a direct replacement for it and he uses it for all his vehicles and boats, however on their website it says 229 is not for auto use do to the added tackifiers, so whats the deal? Is 229 ok for auto use and will it outperform the Amsoil GHD im using now in my boat trailer bearings?

How do lithium complex greases "react" with water??

GHD has a water washout of 1.6. Even if you double that, it's still pretty good.
