I emailed Redline and they said its safe to use, I was gonna try it to see if it would clean up some of the gunk that has undoubtedly built up over its 40 years of use.
Has anyone used this product successfully in a small 2 cycle engine?

I have not use the Red Line product in 2-cycle engines, but I have used Gumout REGANE in 2-cycle engines. Don't use to much. I mix up a 2.5 gallon mix and only put at a maximum 2 oz of the fuel additive in the mix.

Well, we will have a long wait, won't we. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

If your mainjets are gummed you may find that it runs worse
but it wont seize instead (the engine leans out with gummed
jets and runs faster...for a moment). Gummed up jets are
a real pain for us snowmobilers, one topspeed pass and the engine siezes- not fun.
