I got a brochure in the mail for lubricaiton I and II that will be held in Nashville November 2 and 3.

Has anyone attended one of these classes? Would it be worth $600 for me to go and learn more about machinery lubrication? I would like to start selling more to industrial customers, as I think this is where there is a lot of room for growth. As most backyard Amsoil dealers don't or won't take the time to learn about it. Besides it would be much better selling drums than it would be selling 4 quarts.

Here is the brochure on it.

Mike, if you can afford it, go for it.

Wouldn't it go against your business taxes anyway. Even travel expenses?

I think it would be benificial also, I recently took the online course for electric motor greasing and thought it was pretty decently presented. I'm hoping to take the lube I&II seminar online in the future when funds become available. The agenda seems comprehensive enough.
The very least it would gather the information and your exposure to it, then you could use it to help the potential customer with lubrication procedures even if they don't buy at first. If you teach them a thing or two they will remember you as being knowledgable and would be more likely to call you back. IMO

Yes, it will come off the top of my earnings, so it will reduce my tax burden for this year. I am seriously thinking of taking it, since it will be held in Nashville and I'll only be about 1 hr away.

Along those lines. Something I have considered is the Noria publication 535 pages of the 2004 excellence conference which gives you all the poop of the speakers and meetings etc. held last March I think. $79. Anyone buy that or attend. Would it be worth it?

I don't know about the 2004 publication, but I did purchase the one for 2003 and it was avery good investment. They include all the papers, charts, graphs, etc. and are very well written.. If you cannot attend these, the next best thing would be to purchse the proceedings.

The Noria courses are good, I've been to 2 of the Oil Analysis courses. Don't know about the Lube course but if it is like the others then it will be good.

If you want to advance your standing then think about the Certified Lubrication Specialist certification from STLE. It's not easy to get but it is prestigious and shows that you know something. I think Noria has some classes that help prepare you for this. Check out the STLE website for their online courses.

As someone mentioned consider the conference too as a good source.
